Good vs. Bad Composition

.) This first picture is an example of bad composition and a disjointed composition because it seems as if nothing flows and nothing else could fit in this picture.  There is no real contrast in color and there is no real depth in this picture.  Like I said before in this picture your eyes get stuck and can not flow very well so there is no movement and bad lines.  Also, this picture shows bad composition because there is no focal point in this picture, it is in a way messy with no variety.
.) This picture is an example of good composition.  This picture shows good composition because there are good lines any where from the plants to the fence.  The plants also show good texture and dominance and the plants are the focal point, but are not in the center of the picture avoiding an "in jail composition."  Next, this picture has movement from left to right and from the line of plants back to the fence.  Also, the front row of plants go out of frame like they continue forever creating movement again.  This picture also shows good contrast in colors, value and good depth.
.) This picture is a second example of good composition.  First, there is really good movement in this picture from the bricks all the way up to the gutters.  Also, there is good depth which also aids in movement, the depth pulls you up from the bottom to the top.  Next, there are very good lines throughout this picture from the bricks, gutters, to the shutter on the right.  In the patern of the bricks there is good repetition, unity, scale from the even placement of the bricks and balance.  There is also dominance by the bricks and good visual weight balance.  Finally, the bricks are the focal point and in them you can see value and texture in the bricks and shutter.
.) The fourth and final picture is an example of a bad composition.  There is no real motion and flow in this picture making it hard to look at.  When you look at this picture there is no unity making it disjointed.  This picture is very messy/ cluttered and there is no dominance making your eyes get stuck.  This picture doesnt have very much depth either.  The focal point of the picture, the plants, are in the center of the picture creating a center page composition, or an "in jail composition."  Finally, there is not very much variety, space, or good lines in this picture, three aspects that are important to good composition pictures.
